Dipole moments of selected thallium, indium, and tin acetylacetonates, dibenzoylmethanates, and hexafluoroacetylacetonates have been measured in benzene solution at 25° using a refractivity method. The metal-acetylacetonate and metal-dibenzoylmethanate group moments have been found to be less than 2 D. Metal-hexafluoroacetylacetonate group moments have been observed to differ from acetylacetonate moments by about 3 D, as expected. All group moment values obtained are much smaller than those predicted in the literature. © 1969, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
