摘要
The present state of knowledge on the taxonomic distribution, concentration in tissues, intracellular localization and biosynthetic pathways of alpha-tocopherol quinone with relation to metabolism of alpha-tocopherol, together with its possible function in plants, is briefly described. Attention is devoted to the possible participation of alpha-tocopherol quinone in the photosynthetic electron transport chain as well as to the antioxidant properties of its reduced form both in a model and in a natural system.
