摘要
Fly ash, collected from a coal-fired steam plant, has been separated into 17 well-defined size fractions and analyzed for 29 elements using X-ray fluorescence techniques. The results show that the concentrations of volatile trace elements increase as particle size decreases in the 1- to 10-µm size range. For submicron particles, the concentration becomes independent of particle size. A volatilization-condensation model, which is capable of explaining these results, is suggested. © 1979, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
