CO2(CO)8-CATALYZED REACTION OF CYCLIC ORTHO ESTERS WITH A HYDROSILANE AND CARBON-MONOXIDE - NOVEL METHOD FOR HOMOLOGATION OF 1,2-DIOLS, 1,3-DIOLS, AND 1,4-DIOLS
In the presence of Co2(CO)8, the reaction of cyclic ortho esters with a hydrosilane and carbon monoxide resulted in the incorporation of carbon monoxide to give diols having one additional carbon atom. The reaction proceeded under mild reaction conditions (0-25-degrees-C, 1 atm of CO).
