COTTON-MOUTON CONSTANTS AND ELECTRIC HYPERPOLARIZABILITIES FOR THE HELIUM ISOELECTRONIC SEQUENCE

摘要
The Cotton-Mouton constants and hyperpolarizabilities are evaluated in the coupled Hartree-Fock approximation for members of the helium isoelectronic sequence with nuclear charges in the range 2 to 10 and compared with their values from correlated calculations. A relationship between magnetic and electric-field-gradient induced birefringences is derived for spherical molecules.
