摘要
Effective operators are obtained which reproduce, to second order in perturbation theory, the effects of crystal-field-induced configuration interaction on the energy levels of the configuration (l1+l 2)n. Techniques of second quantization are used to carry out the calculation. Many effects of the configuration interaction are found to be absorbed by the first-order crystal-field terms. The results are discussed in relation to similar calculations made of the structure of the configuration ln by Rajnak and Wybourne.
