摘要：

The described technique employs intravitreal air in the surgical management of giant retinal tears. Seventeen (63%) of 27 tears have been successfully reattached. Of the successful cases, 15 (88%) had resulting visual acuity of 20 100 or better, 9 (53%) were 20 40 or better. The combination of good visual acuity and paucity of operative complications offers encouragement for treatment of giant retinal tears within the framework of the prognostic categories set forth in this paper. © 1969.
