摘要
The experimental and theoretical aspects of particle detachment from solid/solution interfaces by diffusion alone are discussed in detail. The interaction energy is taken as a superposition of electrostactic, London-van der Waals, and short range repulsion forces. Examples of detachment of uniform colloidal metal oxide particles from metal and glass surfaces are given as a function of various parameters (time, pH, ionic strength, temperature, additives, and surface characteristics of the adsorbent), using either the packed column or the batch technique. Kinetic data were interpreted in terms of estimated rate constant based on different particle population models.
