PARASELECTIVITY OF ZEOLITES WITH MFI STRUCTURE - DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISPROPORTIONATION AND ALKYLATION

摘要
The disproportionation of toluene was carried out on HZSM-5 zeolites modified with boron oxide and coked as well as on several metallosilicate zeolites with MFI structure at 823 K. The para-selectivity of the HZSM-5 zeolite modified with large amounts of boron oxide was higher than that of the parent HZSM-5, while those of the metallosilicate zeolites were as low as that of the HZSM-5. Para-selectivity for the disproportionation of toluene was related to the pore tortuosity. This means that the high para-selectivity for the disproportionation of toluene is caused by "product selectivity". On the other hand, the para-selectivity for the alkylation of ethylbenzene with ethanol is related to the acid strength. We report that the reason of the enhancement in para-selectivity for the disproportionation is distinct from that for alkylation.
