ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRY IN THE INDUCTIVELY COUPLED PLASMA WITH A CONTINUOUS WAVE DYE-LASER

摘要
The analytical utility of a continuous-wave (cw) argon ion pumped dye laser excitation source and a conventinal ICP torch atomizer/ionizer was investigated. It is found that atomic fluorescence in the ICP using a cw laser source is possible. However, the system as described is not analytically useful because of the limited wavelength range of the present cw dye laser, the rather high cost of the additional components needed to convert an ICP-atomic emission system into a cw laser excited ICP-atomic fluorescence system, and the rather poor (or not substantially improved) detection limits compared to the ICP-atomic emission system.
