MAGNETIC MOMENT MEASUREMENTS ON CAESIUM AND RUBIDIUM MANGANESE CHLORIDE

摘要
Cs2MnCl4 · 2 H2O and Rb2MnCl4 · 2 H2O are two antiferromagnetic substances with a similar triclinic structure, but with different Néel temperatures of 1.84 and 2.24°K respectively. The magnetic moments have been measured at 0.5 °K in external fields up to 70 kOe. In order to calculate the exchange and anisotropy fields the measurements were made on single crystals which were oriented with the ordering direction first parallel and then perpendicular to the field.
