YVO4, YPO4 and YV(x)P1-xO4 phosphor host materials were synthesized by a special hydrolyzed colloid reaction (HCR) technique from Y2O3 + V2O5 + H2O, Y2O3 + P2O5 + H2O and Y2O3 + V2O5 P2O5 + H2O systems at low temperature (T < 100-degrees-C) and atmospheric pressure. Complex colloidal mixtures with metastable characteristics produced by intensive ball milling were transformed into YVO4, YPO4 and YV(x)P1-xO4 by simple hydrolysis.
