摘要
Pyrolysis of 2,4,6-trimethyl-2'-azidobiphenyl (I) at 230 degrees resulted in the formation of 2,4,9-trimethylearbazole (IV) and 8,10-dimethylphenanthridine (V). Formation of V results from insertion of the aryl nitrogen into the C-H bond of the o-methyl group of I.
