NUMERICAL-SIMULATION OF BINARY NUCLEATION OF HYDROGEN IODIDE AND WATER VAPORS

摘要
The formation of aerosol particles from the hydrogen iodide-water vapour system by homogeneous binary nucleation has been studied. Numerical simulations based on the standard classical nucleation theory and the revised classical nucleation theory are performed and they show that significant nucleation occurs in certain conditions and the nucleation rate depends drastically on gas phase activities. The lack of relevant experimental input data has been the most important source of uncertainty. The nucleation was also simulated in ACE (Advanced Containment Experiments) test conditions, where HI gas is mixed with pre-existing particles (CsOH, MnO) and steam/air atmosphere in an 852 m3 vessel.
