摘要：

The Association of Professors of Medicine (APM) represents the chairs of departments of internal medicine at the 126 U.S. medical schools. A recent resolution passed by the organization set the goal of producing 50% general internists from medicine training programs. The APM has recently adopted an activist stance, with initiatives on the issues of internal medicine curriculum reform, medical education, finance and support, and emphasis on the quality of education in the residency experience. While taking steps to increase the training of general internists. departments of medicine also face equal demands to continue to be leaders in clinical research and to train outstanding physicians-scientists. The APM is committed to working with other organizations within the internal medicine community.
