A FLUOROMETRIC PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OF AMMONIA IN BLOOD

摘要
A new fluorometric method for the determination of ammonia in blood and plasma is described. The procedure involves the separation of ammonia from the sample by the Seligson's microdiffusion technique. The ammonia is then converted to 3,5 diacetyl-1,4 dihydrolutidine by the Hantzsch reaction in which acetyl acetone, formaldehyde and ammonia are the reactants. Satisfactory recoveries have been obtained by this method in which standard ammonia is added to blood or plasma. From the standpoint of sensitivity and time required, this technique is believed to be an improvement over previously described procedures for ammonia determination. © 1969.
