In the measurement of the EMG obtained in animals one always gets an interference from the heart's electrical activities. Conversely in the measurement of the ECG the interference from the muscles' electrical activities is unavoidable. In order to obtain clean signals from this combined measured signal (CMS), some kind of filtering is required. Our measurements show that the frequency spectrum of the ECG in rats lies between 0 and 200 Hz with a local maximum at 45 Hz. Similarly, that of the EMG lies between 0 and 1 kHz with a local maximum at 300 Hz. The frequency spectra overlap and thus linear filtering is not a satisfactory solution for this problem. In this communication a new method of filtering is proposed which is based on adaptive sampling.
