Both LEED (low energy electron diffraction) and RHEED (reflection high energy electron diffraction) have been used to study the structure of nickel, vapour deposited in ultra-high vacuum onto clean (111) oriented silver surfaces. In contrast to a previous study by Gonzalez in 1967 performed at 10 -5 torr, no evidence of an ordered alloy was found.
