Chiral perturbation theory predicts finite volume corrections to matrix elements of a theory with SU(N) × SU(N) symmetry which spontaneously breaks down to SU(N). Various two-point functions and the quark condensate are calculated in the large-volume expansion. The formulas apply to four-dimensional QCD in a box with N light flavors of equal mass, when the Compton wavelength of the Goldstone bosons are of the order of the size of the box. The formulas can be used to analyze finite-size effects in lattice calculations. © 1990.
