ENERGETICS OF NONCOLLINEAR SPIN CONFIGURATIONS FOR A MN MONOLAYER ON NI(001)

摘要
The energetics of various spin configurations for an ideal Mn monolayer on Ni (001) is investigated by the local-spin-density approximation and the linear-muffin-tin-orbital method in atomic-sphere approximation. Configurations with antiferromagnetic order in the Mn monolayer are preferred, and their energy depends only slightly on the relative orientation of the Mn and the Ni moments, demonstrating the possibility for the occurrence of non-collinear spin configurations.
