摘要：

Battery energy systems are new electric utility technology whose applications are not yet fully demonstrated. This paper describes not only the applications and benefits achieved by existing and planned facilities but also those that are possible. The performance of existing facilities and the benefits predicted by models show that battery energy systems can be an economically attractive addition to the equipment now used to generate and transmit electric power.
