INTERACTION BETWEEN ITRACONAZOLE AND DIGOXIN

SIR-We read with interest the report by Sachs et al. [l] of a 69-year-old man who developed digoxin toxicity following the addition ofitraconazole to his regimen for the treatment of sternal osteomyelitis. The authors demonstrated a prolonged halflife of digoxin when itraconazole was coadministered. They cautioned that serum levels of digoxin in patients receiving both drugs should be frequently monitored and that the patien's should be carefully questioned about nonspecific gastromtesunalsymptoms. We report another case of such an interaction, which illustrates the importance of the recommendations of Sachs and colleagues. © 1994 by The University of Chicago.
