摘要
A new atomic transport mechanism in solids at high temperature has been discovered by molecular dynamics computer simulation. It can be described as a ring sequence of atomic replacements induced by an unstable Frenkel pair. This mechanism could play an important role in solids where the atomic mobility is high enough (for example in superionic conductors or certain body-centered cubic metals) or is enhanced by irradiation. It suggests at the same time a new process for defect creation in crystalline solids based on unstable Frenkel pairs created in the vicinity of the surface.
