摘要
The bi-impulse response of a 1-D or 2-D quadratic Volterra filter is introduced, as a mathematical tool able to describe completely the nonlinear operator. Besides, a study on the conditions which must be satisfied in order to obtain isotropic input/output relations is presented. The result is a formal framework which allows us to design simple but effective operators (particularly for image enhancement and preprocessing) and to acquire a deeper insight of the properties of Volterra filters. Examples of design and of the performances obtained by processing natural and synthetic images complete the presentation. © 1990 IEEE
