SELECTIVE HARMONIC ELIMINATION AND VOLTAGE CONTROL IN THYRISTOR PULSE-WIDTH MODULATED INVERTERS

摘要
This paper deals with simultaneous elimination of a number M of undesirable harmonics and variation of the output voltage in a pulse-width modulated (PWM) inverter. A general method of pulse-width modulation is suggested where the pulse positions are fixed for the elimination of M harmonics. Voltage control is then obtained by variation of the pulse width symmetrically around the pulse position. By choosing M chops per quarter cycle, it is possible to eliminate M harmonics from the output. The theoretical results are experimentally verified. The proposed method is compared with the sinusoidal modulation technique and the Patel-Hoft method, and its advantages are discussed.
