摘要
Both field observations and subsequent laboratory experiments showed that the presence of free Ca(OH)2 is a necessary condition for the breakdown of a Portland cement concrete structure due to the destructive alkali-silica reaction. The complete removal of free Ca(OH)2 either by leaching with a concentrated solution of CaCl2 or by reacting with a pozzolana suppresses alkali-silica reaction even when excess alkali metal salt, including hydroxide,is present in the structure. Attention has been drawn to certain practical implications of the above results. © 1979.
