摘要
We propose a very simple empirical form of the helium-on-graphite potential, which reproduces the energy of the six known bound states, the experimental average distance of the He-4 atom from the surface in the ground state and the correct asymptotic behaviour of the interaction. This optimized potential is used to compute the binding energy of a He-3 atom on the same substrate. The agreement between the theoretical predictions and the experimental results is a check of the set of variational parameters.
