NUMERICAL-CALCULATIONS OF SOLITARY WAVES IN DAVYDOV EQUATIONS

Families of numerically very accurate bright and dark lattice solitary waves in Davydov's equations, which have been proposed to describe propagation of vibrational energy in alpha-helix protein are calculated using spectral collocation and path-following methods. Travelling solitary waves are found to exist only when the nonlinear coupling is less than some critical value which depends on the velocity of the solitary wave.
