摘要
The investigation is concerned with the dynamic behaviour of a universal milling machine and the influence of the excitation conditions on the prediction of chatter. The effect of the variation of the amplitude of the exciting force and the pre-loading conditions of the guides were investigated. It was found that, with increasing force amplitude, the dynamic response of the machine structure became non-linear. A single degree of freedom system with non-linear stiffness characteristics is used to explain the experimental results. Good qualitative agreement between theory and experiments was obtained. © 1969.
