摘要
A new facility for in vivo detection of trace amounts of the toxic element cadmium in the liver by neutron activation analysis is described. Neutron irradiation was carried out by using two opposed encapsulated 241Am-Be sources, each containing 10 Ci of Am with a total yield of 4.4 × 107 neutron per second. The subject sat between the two sources facing one source during the procedure. Liquid phantoms have been used for this study. The long term reproducibility for phantom measurements was ±2% (1S.D.), and the sensitivity was 100 counts/10 ppm cadmium/10 mrad. © 1979.
