ADSORPTION AND ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATION OF CO ON GOLD + PALLADIUM ALLOYS

摘要
The adsorption and electro-oxidation of CO on Au + Pd alloys was studied by means of 2 cyclic voltammetry. A maximum of CO coverage was found at Au 10.48% + Pd, more than 3 on pure Pd. CO adsorption is found even on alloys with more than 60% Au. An explanation is given based on the ensemble-effect and on a bifunctional mechanism of electro-oxidation. The appearance of two oxygen-desorption peaks is interpreted by a CO-induced agglomeration of Pd atoms on the alloy surface. © 1979 Elsevier Sequoia S.A.
