POLARIZATION OF ELECTRONS IN QUANTUM DASHES IN MAGNETIC-FIELD

We present a calculation of the quantum mechanical anticorrelation between two electrons each occupying an elongated quantum dot (''quantum dash'') and compare it to the corresponding classical result. A nonzero anticorrelation arises due to the repulsion between electrons. While the classical system is characterized by a sharp transition in the anticorrelation function, quantum effects smear out this sharp onset. The presence of a strong external magnetic field enhances the particle localization, causing the quantum anticorrelation to approach the classical limit. Some practical applications are discussed.
