摘要
Isolated pairs of antiferromagnetically coupled magnetic ions possess a series of energy levels whose separation is determined by the nearest-neighbor exchange constant J//N//N. We report Raman transitions between these energy levels in Cd//1// minus //xMn//xS and Cd//1// minus //xS and Cd//1// minus //xMn//xSe. At the lowest temperatures, the ground to first excited state transition is observed and allows direct measurement of J//N//N/k//. B: minus 10. 6 plus or minus 0. 2 K in Cd//1// minus //xMn//xS and minus 8. 1 plus or minus 0. 2 K in Cd//1// minus //xMn//xSe. Transitions to higher excited states occur at higher temperatures.
