CASCADING EFFECTS IN TYPE-II 2ND-HARMONIC GENERATION - APPLICATIONS TO ALL-OPTICAL PROCESSING

摘要
Nonlinear cascading based on type II second-harmonic generation can produce large phase shifts at the fundamental frequency even in phase matching, provided the orthogonal input components have unequal amplitudes. When utilizing an elliptically polarized excitation at the fundamental frequency, cascading results in all-optical amplitude modulation, implementing an intensity-driven transistor the operation of which is independent from the input phases. This application is quite appealing for ultrafast analog signal processing.
