HEPATIC BRANCH VAGOTOMY ATTENUATES THE FEEDING RESPONSE TO 2-DEOXY-D-GLUCOSE IN RATS

The effect of hepatic branch vagotomy on the feeding response induced in rats by intraperitoneally injected 2‐deoxy‐D‐glucose (2‐DG) was tested. Injections were given 1 h after onset of the dark phase, and immediately [corrected] after the rats had ingested a meal. 2‐DG produced a smaller feeding response in hepatic branch‐vagotomized rats compared with that in sham‐vagotomized rats. This finding suggests that hepatic glucoreceptors with vagal afferent fibres are involved in the feeding response to glucose deprivation. © 1990 The Physiological Society
