TESTING SPECIAL RELATIVITY WITH SN-1987-A NEUTRINO PULSES

摘要
We utilize the neutrino pulses from the supernova SN 1987-a to put upper bounds on the possible dependence, c(v) = c + K(v)vs of the velocity of neutrinos on the velocity of the source. By analyzing the time delay between the v pulse and the optical sighting we find K(v) less-than-or-equal-to 10(-5). Also, K(v) less-than-or-equal-to 2 X 10(-4) follows from considering the potential broadening of the neutrino pulses. The medium effects and the extinction phenomena play a key role and vastly weaken a limit K(v) less-than-or-equal-to 10(-11) when would otherwise be suggested by the nonbroadening of the signal.
