摘要
The differential elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections of silicon have been measured at incident neutron energies from 4.0 to 7.5 MeV. Neutrons and gamma rays produced in the inelastic scattering process were observed independently. The neutron cross sections were measured with a time-of-flight spectrometer relative to hydrogen. The gamma-ray spectra were measured with a NaI(Tl) spectrometer using time-of-flight techniques to eliminate the neutron background. The 1.78, 4.61, 4.97 and 6.27 MeV states were observed in both the neutron and gamma-ray studies. The two states at 6.876 and 6.885 MeV were observed but not resolved in the gamma-ray work. The experimental differential gamma-ray cross sections are compared with calculations based on Satchler's theory. © 1969.
