INDEPENDENT YIELD OF 135I IN THERMAL NEUTRON FISSION OF 235U - HALF-LIFE OF 135TE

摘要
The independent yield of 135I in the thermal neutron fission of 235U (47 ± 2% of chain yield) and the half-life of 135Te (18 ± 2 sec) have been determined using a rapid chemical isolation of fission iodine via ion exchange on a performed AgCl precipitate. Chemical separation of iodine from its precursors could be performed within 2 sec after a short irradiation (0·05 sec). The result is discussed with respect to the effects of closed nuclear shells on charge distribution in fission. © 1969.
