摘要
Eight pasture species - Axonopus compressus, Cynodon dactylon, Eragrostis tenuifolia, Hypochoeris radicata, Lolium perenne, Panicum maximum, Sporobolus elongatus and Trifolium repens - were subject to simulated trampling in a glasshouse experiment. The resistance to and recovery from trampling and growth rate were examined. Plant resistance to trampling was not significantly correlated with recovery or growth rate. Recovery rate was, however, positively correlated to growth rate. High resistance and high recovery appear to be two exclusive characteristics of plant species. Fast growth is an essential feature of species which use a recovery strategy to tolerate trampling.
