POLARIZATION FROM GRAZING-INCIDENCE COLLISIONS OF PROTONS ON A NICKEL SINGLE-CRYSTAL

摘要
Pronounced angular-dependence effects have been observed in the elliptic polarization and intensity of Hα radiation following low-energy grazing-incidence collisions of protons on a clean nickel single crystal (110) maintained under ultrahigh vacuum. Polarization variations, measured for the first time from a single crystal, correlate with variations in electron density along the particle trajectory. © 1979 The American Physical Society.
