Reactive scattering of hydrogen and deuterium atoms from halogen molecules

摘要
Angular distributions for the reaction products from the reactions of H and D atoms with Cl-2 and Br-2 molecules are reported. Within experimental error the angular distributions do not vary upon changing from H to D atoms. Most of the hydrogen halide molecules recoil backwards with respect to the incoming hydrogen beam. The Leak of the angular distribution occurs at larger angles for chlorine than for bromine. The results are in agreement with trajectory calculations of Polanyi et at.
