摘要：

Gated photoelectric detection is used to resolve overlapping vacuum-UV emission continua from pulsed rare-gas discharges. The bandlike Ar-2 continuum in the 1074-1200 angstrom region arises from collision-induced emission of the P-3(2) metastable state of Ar.
