ENERGY STRAGGLING OF 3-36-MEV C-12 IONS IN ALUMINUM

摘要
The energy straggling of partially stripped C12 ions incident at energies from 3 to 36 MeV on a thin Al foil has been measured. The results are interpreted as due to a combination of the statistical processes of collisional energy loss and charge exchange. Analysis of the observed straggling in terms of these processes in the energy region 20-36 MeV leads to values of the electron-capture and -loss cross sections which are consistent with Bohr's simple theoretical description. © 1979 The American Physical Society.
