摘要
Glutathione can cleave the disulphide bonds in proteins from advanced nuclear cataractous lenses and in mixed disulphides of lens proteins and glutathione. The equilibrium constants for these reactions were estimated to be 0.02-0.05 and 0.07, respectively. Endogenous glutathione can protect lens protein sulphydryl groups from oxidation in vitro, provided NADPH2 and G-6-P are added.
