OBSERVATION OF A NONLOCAL PANCHARATNAM PHASE-SHIFT IN THE PROCESS OF INDUCED COHERENCE WITHOUT INDUCED EMISSION

摘要
A Pancharatnam phase shift, which is similar to Berry's topological phase, is introduced into the idler path between two down-converters in an experiment on induced coherence without induced emission. Although the idler beams in such an experiment do not take part in interference, the Pancharatnam phase shift is observable in the interference of the signal beams. This is clearly a nonlocal manifestation of Pancharatnam's phase.
