APPLICATION OF FE (2)-5-PYRIDYL BENZODIAZEPIN-2-ONES TO DETERMINATION OF SERUM IRON AND IRON-BINDING CAPACITY

摘要
A precise procedure has been developed for the spectrophotometric determination of serum iron and iron-binding capacity using a new ligand-a 5-pyridyl benzodiazepin-2-one derivative. Procedural elements have been simplified for rapid analysis. By this technic, the iron content of normal human serum is : (males) 141 ± 25 (s.d.) μg/100 ml,iron-binding capacity, 230-484μ/100 ml; (females) 122 ± 30 (s.d.) μg/100 ml, iron-binding capcity, 264-385 μg/100 ml. These values are in good agreement with published values obtained by methods using other ligands. © 1969.
