摘要：

This paper describes the design and initial field testing of a photon tagging spectrometer which has been installed on the 840 MeV electron microton at the Institut fur Kernphysik in Mainz. The spectrometer, which will enable bremsstrahlung produced photons in the energy range 40-790 MeV to be tagged, forms part of a proposed real photon beam facility for carrying out experiments on photonuclear reactions at intermediate energies.
