PAIR-BREAKING BY BA SITE MAGNETIC DOPANTS IN SUPERCONDUCTING NDBA2CU3OX

摘要
Nd+3 (J=9/2) on a Ba site between a cuprate plane and a chain layer of superconducting NdBa2Cu(3)O(x) (with x approximate to 7) acts as a magnetic scatterer and pair-breaker, while Nd on a rare-earth-site between two cuprate planes does not. This implies that the superconductivity originates in the vicinity of the chain layers, not in the cuprate planes, of NdBa2Cu3Ox and its homologous compounds.
