摘要
1. 1. Haematological changes associated with haemorrhage in the pigeon have been investigated. 2. 2. Haematocrit, haemoglobin, and plasma protein concentrations decreased immediately post-haemorrhage, fluctuated and returned to normal or were slightly elevated after 10 weeks. Plasma osmolality increased immediately post-haemorrhage, then decreased and returned to normal after 2 weeks. The MCHC value was significantly higher than the pre-haemorrhage value after 10 weeks. 3. 3. Four haemoglobin bands were found on electrophoresis of normal pigeon blood. Marked changes in the percentage composition of the haemoglobin electrophoretogram were observed after haemorrhage and these returned to pre-haemorrhage values after 10 weeks. 4. 4. The results are discussed in relation to the ability of pigeons to withstand haemorrhage. © 1979.
