摘要
The mechanical fatigue of NiTi shape memory alloys has been extensively studied. Fatigue crack growth rates were measured and found to be lower than predicted from the phenomenological law relating growth rates to the elastic modulus. No influence of Ms, the temperature of the start of the martensite transformation, on crack growth rate was found, in contrast to the 107 cycle fatigue life where the fatigue limit increased with decreasing Ms, Low cycle fatigue measurements showed that the Coffin-Manson law is obeyed and for a fatigue life of 103 cycles, the measured total strain is ten times that for conventional alloys. The mechanical properties of these alloys are discussed in terms of the reversibility of the martensite deformation processes. © 1979.
